- The Shondells release "Hanky Panky", a song The Residents would later cover ten years later, as part of their Third Reich 'n Roll album.
- Dick Holler & the Holidays release "Double Shot (Of My Baby's Love)". This song would be a particular favorite of The Residents, which they would cover and sample several times throughout the 1970s and 80s.
- 16th: The Beatles release Can’t Buy Me Love, which is later sampled by The Residents on Beyond The Valley Of A Day In The Life in 1977.

- 28th: Elvis Presley releases Viva Las Vegas, The Residents would later cover it in 1989, as part of their King & Eye album.
July[]
- 10th: The Beatles release A Hard Day’s Night & Tell Me Why, two songs that The Residents would later sample on their Beyond The Valley Of A Day In The Life mashup track.
December[]
- 2nd: Them release Gloria, a song The Residents would later cover as part of their Third Reich 'n Roll album in 1975.
- 4th: The Beatles release No Reply, I'm a Loser & Mr. Moonlight. Three songs sampled by The Residents on Beyond The Valley Of A Day In The Life in 1977.
