Throughout 1973 Residents Uninc. continued production on Vileness Fats, and recorded their first album.
Early in the year, N. Senada leaves the group to study Inuit culture in the arctic, after filming his appearance in Vileness Fats.

- The Meet The Residents sessions begin.

- 2nd: We're an American Band by Grand Funk Railroad is released. The title track would later be covered by The Residents as part of their Adobe Disfigured Night and Wormwood projects.
- 20th: Bill Reinhardt visits Residents Uninc's Sycamore Street studio for the first time.

- Residents, Uninc. finish their first album and call it Meet The Residents.
