January[]
- 24th: Snakefinger's Chewing Hides the Sound is reissued by Klanggalerie as a deluxe edition with a bonus disc of mixes made by The Residents in 1987 for the Snakey Wake event.
February[]
- 2nd: A clip of "Semolina" from the Secret Show video is released. God in 3 Persons shows are announced for Athens, Greece and Paris, France.
- 15th: All dates for God in 3 Persons are cancelled.
- 16th: Secret Show: Live in San Francisco is released by Cherry Red / MVD.
- 18th: Psychofon Records announces it will be publishing Andrew Hook's Commercial Book, a collection of short stories inspired by The Residents' Commercial Album.
- 20th: Homer Flynn publicly announces that The Residents will no longer be collaborating with Nolan Cook.
- 22nd: The Residents announce a performance at the San Francisco Public Library's Night of Ideas festival. It's Psychedelic Baby magazine publishes a new interview with Homer Flynn.
- 26th: The Residents announce that they will be performing "a condensed version of their classic Eskimo album" at the Night of Ideas show.
March[]
- 2nd: The Residents perform Eskimo at the San Francisco Public Library.
April[]
- 6th: The Commercial Book by Andrew Hook (author of N. Senada's biography) is published by Psychofon Records, including a CD of all radio ads for the Commercial Album.
- 20th: Leftovers Again?! Again!?!, a second collection of unissued archival material, is released for Record Store Day.
June[]
- Bobuck's Clank Clank Clank EP is reissued on vinyl by Psychofon.
- 28th: The pREServed edition of Demons Dance Alone is released by Cherry Red / MVD, and also reissued on vinyl.
September[]
- 27th: The single "Duck Sauce" from the upcoming Dookietown EP is released.
October[]
- 1st: Psychofon releases a special objet d'art item of Ego Plum's "Duck Sauce Refried" remix. 25 copies are up for pre-order and sold out almost immediately.
- 7th: The Faceless Forever live album, The Residents... are Faceless! is released by Klanggalerie.
- 18th: Shadowland: Live in Fribourg 2016 is released by Secret Records.
- 18th: The Residents perform the new song "Cortical Nights" at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris, France.
- 27th: A restoration of Whatever Happened to Vileness Fats?, followed by an hour of outtakes, is shown at the OFFLINE Cinema in Glasgow, Scotland.
November[]
- 1st: The Dookietown EP is released by Cherry Red / MVD as a 10" record.
- 22nd: The Ralph Records retrospective compilation, Buy or Die! Ralph Records 1972-1982, curated by The Residents, is released by Cherry Red / MVD.
