A Tribute To Polnareff (also released as 'Hommage To/À Polnareff' and 'Un Hommage À Polnareff') is a double anthology album released by XIII BIS Records in 1999. The songs are all either written by or are tributes to Michel Polnareff.

Background[]

In 1993, French record label XIII BIS Records asked The Residents to contribute to a compilation album based upon the works of singer-songwriter Michel Polnareff. The group agreed and recorded a cover of his 1966 song 'Love Me, Please Love Me'.

Following a long hiatus, The Residents presumed the project was cancelled, and as a result, their contribution on the 'Our Poor, Our Tired, Our Huddled Masses' box set. XIII BIS revived the project shortly afterwards and released the album on June 22nd, 1999. Various record labels have re-released the compilation in various shortened forms over the years, with some containing only one of the two discs and others containing shortened versions of the track listings that often excluded The Residents' work. The 2000 Canadian pressing appears to feature an extended version of The Residents' track.

The album also features contributions from Tuxedomoon members Blaine Reininger and Steven Brown, who were both signed to Ralph Records and worked with The Residents.
