Andrew Hook is a British author, born in Norwich in 1967. He has had three novels, four novellas and more than 150 short stories published since 1987. He formed an independent publishing company, Elastic Press, in 2002, specialising in short fiction.
Hook is the author of O for Obscurity, Or, The Story of N, a biographical book about Bavarian avant-garde composer The Mysterious N. Senada, published in 2020 by the Eyeball Museum and Psychofon Records.
Hook decoded O for Obscurity from a diary by Senada consisting of seemingly random numbers and circles, which had been found by The Residents when exploring their archives for their ongoing pREServed reissue campaign.
Hook published a second Residents-related work, Commercial Book, in March 2024, again via the Eyeball Museum and Psychofon; the book is a collection of forty short stories, each exactly one thousand words in length, based on the forty one minute songs from The Residents' Commercial Album.
