"Boxes of Armageddon" (or "Boxes Full of Armageddon") is a song by The Residents, featured as the opening track of their 2008 concept album The Bunny Boy. The song was first released as a free digital download on The Residents' official website on August 22nd 2008,[1] in advance of the release of the album on September 1st. It was also performed on the corresponding live tour from October to December of the same year.
The Residents first revisited the song in 2010, in an arrangement planned for (but ultimately excised from) the live show Talking Light; this version was later released on the album Lonely Teenager in 2011. A solo version of the song by The Residents' long-time composer Charles Bobuck was featured on the album Bobuck Plays The Residents in 2016.
In 2023, the song was featured in the set list of The Residents' 50th Anniversary tour, Faceless Forever.
Lyrics[]
Boxes full of Armageddon, boxes full of death Boxes sitting in my doorway, boxes someone left For me to see Boxes full of Armageddon, boxes full of death For me to see Boxes full of Armageddon, boxes full of death For me to see
They were well-worn cardboard boxes, bulging from the weight Of documents obsessed with mindless slaughter and decay For me to see Boxes that depicted a sad reality Full of fiction and reflections of insanity For me to see, for me to see
Boxes full of Armageddon, boxes full of death For me to see Boxes full of Armageddon, boxes full of death For me to see Boxes full of Armageddon, boxes full of death For me to see
Boxes full of Armageddon Boxes full of Armageddon BOXES FULL OF DEATH!
