Meet The Residents Wiki

Chuck's Ghost Music is an album by Charles Bobuck (originally credited to The Residents' Talking Light), first released in MP3 format in 2011 via The Residents' Robot Selling Device online store. It is a soundtrack to the group's video project Randy's Ghost Stories.

The album's first physical release was on a USB thumb drive sold exclusively on the Talking Light tour. It was then reissued in 2012 as an on-demand CD-R via The Cryptic Corporation. A remastered version was released by Klanggalerie on February 20th 2021.

One of a string of Residents releases related to the group's Talking Light tour, Chuck's Ghost Music acts as a soundtrack album for the Randy's Ghost Stories video project, which stars the group's lead singer Randy Rose. The album contains music written and performed mostly by Charles Bobuck, the group's long-time composer and keyboardist.

It directly preceded the introduction of Bobuck's solo "contraptions" - an outlet for extra-Residential recording activities which he could not pursue fully with the group. The first of these "contraptions" was the 2012 album Codgers On The Moon, though Bobuck had recorded similar projects as early as the 1990s.[1]

Originally issued solely through the group's now-defunct Robot Selling Device online MP3 store and credited to "The Residents' Talking Light", Chuck's Ghost Music was later released on a USB thumb drive with a lanyard sold exclusively at stops on the Talking Light tour, and again later in 2012 as a CD-R, credited in part as a Bobuck contraption.

Chuck's Ghost Music was reissued physically again on February 20th 2021 via Klanggalerie, credited simply to "Bobuck". This reissue features a new remaster of the album, as well as new cover art, both of were created by Hardy Fox prior to his death on October 30th 2018.
