Cortical Palace (alternatively referred to as Cortical Nights or Les Nuits Corticales) is an exhibition by artist and experimental filmmaker Loris Gréaud, which featured a short, one-off live performance by The Residents.

The exhibition, which was originally designed for the Petit Palais in Paris' Museum of Fine Arts, and planned to take place between October 2023 and January 2024,[1] ultimately premiered at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France, on October 18th 2024. Attendance to The Residents' "one time" performance at the Théâtre du Châtelet was free, however attendees were required to book tickets to the event due to a limited number of available seats.

The Residents (who appeared in a line-up of five members) were initially said to be performing only one song at the show, "Cortical Nights", which was composed specifically for the exhibition, however the performance ultimately included a second new song, the title of which is yet to be officially confirmed. An official recording of the performance exists, and is planned for release at an unknown time in the future.[2]

The Residents had previously provided the soundtrack to Gréaud's experimental film Sculpt in 2016. The show was presented by the Théâtre du Châtelet in association with the Geneva Museum of Art and History, The Cryptic Corporation, Art Basel, CNRS, Ville de Paris, Clover Gin and Éditions LITO.

The Cortical Palace exhibition is expected to continue in late 2024 with the premiere of a new work by Gréaud, a "giant blob" to be installed in the "boiler room" of the Geneva Museum of Art and History in Switzerland, intended to "[haunt] the museum forever, like a perennial and evolving counterpart to the fleeting appearance of The Residents on the Théâtre du Châtelet stage". A further exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Detroit is also said to be in the planning stages.[3]
