Diane Flynn (also known as Diane Paulsen or D. Paulsen) is a costume designer and actress who worked with The Residents on their unfinished feature film, Vileness Fats, from 1972 to 1976.
She continued to work with The Residents until 1983, staffing the merchandising table during their Mole Show tour. She is the ex-wife of Homer Flynn and was described by Hardy Fox as "The Real Fifth Resident".
History[]
In late 1972, production began on Residents, Uninc.'s unfinished feature film, Vileness Fats, on which Diane acted as costume designer. According to Bill Reinhardt, it is unknown what her relationship with Homer Flynn was, but they were already in a relationship by July 20th, 1973.
At that time, Flynn worked for Pacific Bell as a lineman and Residents Uninc. would joke that she had the best income of anyone in the group.[1]
Diane continued to work with The Residents until 1983 and could be found operating the merchandising table for The Mole Show, credited as Diane Flynn on the program for the first time.
Legacy[]
In 1984, she was credited on the Whatever Happened To Vileness Fats? VHS. In 2017, Hardy Fox made references to Flynn through his Hacienda Bridge newsletter, crediting her for her invaluable support in The Residents' early years.
