Disfigured Night is a compilation album by The Residents, released by Klanggalerie on December 5th 2016. The album collects material recorded by the group in 1997 for their series of live performances of the same name.

All of the material featured on Disfigured NIght was previously issued on various installments of the 1997: The Missing Year series of digital-only releases, which were issued through the group's Robot Selling Device in 2009.

History[]

The material featured on Disfigured Night was recorded by The Residents in 1997 for their live performance project Disfigured Night. Every selection on the album had previously been released on various albums in the 1997: The Missing Year series of download-only releases, which were available through the group's Robot Selling Device in 2009.

The first three tracks, labelled "Original Disfigured Night", are The Residents' original demos for the project, recorded in Spring 1997. These were previously featured on the Robot Selling Device release 1997: The Missing Year - The Original Disfigured Night Arrangement.

The following five tracks are selections from "Adobe Disfigured Night", the piece's debut performance, at the Adobe Centre For Arts in California in May 1997. The last two tracks feature excerpts from the "Marlboro Eyeball Experience", the first performance of the full suite, recorded in Germany in August 1997.

Some material previously featured in the "Missing Year" series of releases, specifically a selection of "scattered unfinished music sketches" and the first act of the group's dress rehearsal for their 1997 Fillmore show, is not included in this compilation.
