Donald Norman Jackovich (usually credited as Don Jackovich or D. Jackovich) (September 8th 1952 - May 29th 2019) was an American drummer best known for his work with The Residents and Snakefinger between 1976 and 1980.

Jackovich was also a member of a group called The Flys, and released a solo 12" single, "Bridge It", in 1985. He died unexpectedly on May 29th 2019 in the Green Bay area at the age of 66.[1]

History with The Residents[]

Jackovich's first credited work with The Residents was the Satisfaction single released in 1976, although the credit was vague, reading 'Thanks to Don.' The 1978 re-issue was slightly more specific as 'Featuring D. Jackovich, Percussion.' Whether or not Don plays on both sides of the single is somewhat confusing. The 1987 Third Reich N Roll CD credits him with just Loser ≅ Weed, but 1997 Our Tired, Our Poor, Our Huddled Masses compilation credits him on Satisfaction, but not Loser ≅ Weed.

Don can be considered a part of the group's lineup of core collaborators, performing on a number of the group's major projects of the time; most significantly, their only live performance of the period, The Mummy Show.

Immediately following said performance, Jackovich was featured on the group's third album, Fingerprince. Although initially credited broadly, later CD issues reveal that Jackovich only performed on Six Things to a Cycle.

His following work with The Residents was on the A-Side to Snakefinger's first single, The Spot. Jackovich has often been closely associated with Snakefinger, and in 1979 he performed on Snakefinger's cover of 'Magic & Ecstasy,' featured on The Residents produced album, Chewing Hides The Sound.

Jackovich's final credited work with the group was on The Commercial Album, where he was credited as making a Special Appearance. Jackovich was later specifically credited with percussion on the track 'Love Leaks Out.'

In 1985, he released an Electro EP titled 'Bridge It' on 'Rachel Records;' a label credited exclusively for the release. The EP was recorded at Different Fur Studios. Its catalog number was 'DNJ31285,' vaguely reminiscent of Ralph Records' catalog numbers, starting with an abbreviation of the artist's name and then a string of numbers.
