Poor Kaw-Liga's Pain is a 1994 remix album by The Residents, featuring a number of different versions of their 1986 single "Kaw-Liga", a cover of the Hank Williams song.
Background[]
From October of 1985 to September of 1986, The Residents worked day and night on an album that combined Hank Williams with John Phillip Sousa. That album, Stars & Hank Forever, birthed what was (And still may be) The Residents' most successful single, Kaw-Liga. Kaw-Liga was a dance hit in Europe and several remixes were created throughout the late 1980s.
This compilation collects all released versions of Kaw-Liga, along with two previously unheard versions, Kaw-Live-Ga, a recording from an unreleased 13th Anniversary Tour perfrormance, and Poor Kaw-Liga's Pain, a re-recording that might have originated during the Our Finest Flowers sessions.

The album was sold through Euro Ralph in limited quantity of 5,000, it was the fourth CD release by the label. It has been out of print for over twenty years.
In 2000 Kaw-Liga (Dancemix) was released as a 12" with this title.

Retrospective[]
In a negative review from March 2010,[1] freelance music reviewer Mark Prindle devised a sarcastic fictional 1994 newspaper article in which "thousands of fans [gather] in the streets... to demand Congress draft legislation forcing The Residents to release an album of 'Kaw-Liga' remixes", with Prindle awarding Poor Kaw-Liga's Pain only 2/10.[2]
