Golden Goat (AKA, Perfect Goat) is a song by Snakefinger, featuring The Residents. It appeared on his 1980 album 'Greener Postures' and has been performed by The Residents without Snakefinger many times.
Background[]
The song was first written by Snakefinger & The Residents in 1980 for Greener Postures, which The Residents produced.
Snakefinger would go on to perform the track at all of his concerts, bar his Blues Tour of 1983 - 1984, until his death in 1986.
The Residents' first re-working of the track came in 1992 when it was chosen to be recorded for their 20th Anniversary album 'Our Finest Flowers', retitled 'Perfect Goat' and slowed down a whole lot, and with the lyrics to Perfect Love added to the end.
performed as part of the Demons Dance Alone live show, featuring Molly Harvey on vocals.
A video of one of these 2002 performances was given it's own DVD, with additional bonus music videos and advertisements.
It was then re-worked again in 2005, for The Way We Were tour. This version featured a slow intro, but an overall fast tempo.
