"Hop A Little" is the second track from The Residents' thirteenth studio album, The Big Bubble.
History[]

Title card from the 1985 live video (2011 edit)
The song is written and performed from the perspective of The Big Bubble, a band within The Residents' Mole Trilogy fiction made up of Mole / Chub hybrids. The song is mostly performed in Mohelmot, the outlawed native language of The Moles'.
For their 13th Anniversary Tour, which ran from 1985 - 1987, Hop a Little was performed as the penultimate track of the show's main set, being the second in a trio of Big Bubble songs. Despite the song not being included on The 13th Anniversary Show live in Tokyo album, footage of the song being performed was broadcast as part of a 1985 Japanese television special on The Residents, showcasing that it was in fact performed on that leg.[1] That same footage was later edited and included as an Easter Egg on the 2011 Randy's Ghost Stories DVD.
