In Between Screams (Intermission Music From The Residents' Wormwood) is a limited edition CD-R by The Residents, featuring a twenty minute suite of music composed by Charles Bobuck as intermission music for the group's 1999 Wormwood tour.
The suite was first released as a limited edition CD-R which was sold at the merchandise stand on the Wormwood tour; it was later reissued digitally in 2014 credited solely to Bobuck. Most recently the suite was featured on the 2022 pREServed box set Wormwood Box.
History[]
In Between Screams follows 1983's Intermission EP and 1987's For Elsie in an ongoing series of "intermission music" released by The Residents and later, Charles Bobuck.
The CD-R features a single twenty-minute suite, which samples twenty-one religious songs; the last section of the suite was designed to play as the curtains opened, and The Residents would begin playing where the pre-recorded music finished.

Release[]
In Between Screams was released as a limited edition CD-R, in a printing of 1000 copies, which were sold at the merchandise stand at dates on The Residents' Wormwood Live tour in 1999. The CD-R came in a jewel case with only a front card and no back inlay.
It was later reissued as a digital release through Residents composer Charles Bobuck's Bandcamp page in 2014, credited as a solo Bobuck "contraption". "Woodworms", the ninth and final disc of the 2022 pREServed CD box set Wormwood Box, opens with the suite in its entirety.
Liner notes[]
Charles Bobuck digital reissue (2014)[]
This music collage combined a series of gospel clips set against a string of modern rhythmic patters. It was designed to entertain during the intermission of The Residents' Wormwood show. The final theme is positioned to conclude just as the curtains open with The Residents continuing the theme live.
