Scene 4 (In The Dark) usually just In The Dark is the fourth track of twelve from The Residents 2007 album The Voice of Midnight. The album was distributed by Mute Records.
Plot[]
The song, just like The Sandman starts with a phone call. However, this time Nate is receiving a phone call from a friend Brad. At first, Nate can't hear what Brad is saying as sirens blare in the background. The Nate hears that his apartment has burnt down, but Brad managed to get all of Nate's belongings out of the apartment before it burnt down. But then Brad tells Nate that he has an empty room in his building that he can move Nate's stuff too. Nate says he'll be over there as soon as he can, but he has to wait as the train won't be there for two hours.
When Nate gets to his new apartment, he looks out of a window and sees Professor Caligari, Nate's Biology professor he has for the semester. He then looks a Professor Caligari's house and sees an open window. Looking through the window, Nate sees a figure, sitting in the dark.
The Sandman then continues, saying the figure is a woman, petting a cat, sitting in the dark as the song ends.
