Kaw-Liga (Dancemix) is a 1986 Remix EP by The Residents, released in October of 1986.
Background[]
Sometime following the release of Stars & Hank Forever in The Netherlands, DJs Michiel Kleiss & Mikel Le Roy approached Torso, The Residents' Dutch distributors, with the potential to officially release two remixes of The Residents' Kaw-Liga that the duo had made. Torso, liking what they had heard, and having received approval from the group and The Cryptic Corporation, quickly released a three track EP containing the two remixes, as well as The Residents' original version.
The single would prove to be very successful, especially in the Dutch nightclub scene, leading to re-releases in France & Spain the following year. In 1988 a CD version of the EP was released in Holland, containing one bonus track, the original single edit of the song.
Following this string of releases, the single would be repressed twice more, once in 2000 under the title 'Poor Kaw-Liga's Pain', and then in 2013 on purple vinyl. The 2000 release would feature a slightly altered track listing, substituting the Horror Mix for the Housey MIx, whilst the 2013 release replaced the Horror Mix with the Stripped Mix.
