Kick A Picnic is a mashup created by The Residents for their 1992 album 'Our Finest Flowers'
Background[]
The mashup combines the songs Picnic In The Jungle & Aircraft Damage. Aircraft Damage had been written in 1972 to be performed by Arf & Omega in the film Vileness Fats, and the EP Santa Dog. B. Barnes & C. America recieved ironic writing credit on the song. The backing vocals of Kick A Picnic, sung by a Resident, are from Aircraft Damage.
Picnic In The Jungle had been written in 1979 by The Residents & Snakefinger for inclusion on Snakefinger's debut album Chewing Hides The Sound. Kick A Picnic borrows most of its lyrics from Jungle.
The song was re-recorded in 2001 for inclusion in the film 'Icky Flix', with Molly Harvey on lead vocals. This version also appears on the soundtrack album, and was performed on the subsequent tour.
Most recently the mashup appeared on the official tribute album 'I Am A Resident!" This version was recorded by The Meet Café.
