Since submitting their song "Whoopy Snorp" to the Los Angeles Free Music Society compilation album Blorp Esette in 1977, The Residents have sometimes released non-album or specially recorded tracks on various artists anthologies and compilations.
In addition, previously released material by the group has also been licensed for use on anthologies and compilations many times over the years.
