This Who Do You Love? from my show Sam’s Enchanted Evening that I’ll be performing in NYC at the end of March. Once again, this is a DEMO - not the way we actually perform it in the show. For those that don’t know Who Do You Love? was written and originally performed by the incomparable Do Diddley. I saw Mr. Diddley for the first time back in 1963.

Okay, okay… somebody named edgaryuckyburrito looked at the straight razor on the last part of my Baby Sister story and said, “Hey Randy, how come your razor has the initials "RRR” when your name is Randy Rose. Okay, if you HAVE to know, my real name is Rudolph Randolph Rose. Yeah, yeah, I know, it’s a funny name.
Just don’t call me “Rudolph, the Red Nosed Randy!” That’s what they said when I was eight years old and came to school with a cold. GOD! I HATED IT! Life is cruel.

EXPLORING LA - Part 6
When I put up the photos about exploring LA a couple of weeks ago, I forgot to show some pictures that I shot in an Air Force Museum. Well, I didn’t exactly forget - I just got confused and didn’t know exactly how to deal with them and I’m still kind of puzzled. I mean I didn’t know whether to see this as fantastic outsider art or be embarrassed by the questionable taste demonstrated by our Guardians of Democracy. I think I’ll go for outsider art - that makes be feel better.
Meanwhile, I have been working on a short movie about my LA outing. I’ll have it ready in a day or two.

ladygagapoopoohead asked me, “Hey Randy! So what do you do all day? I mean you can’t spend ALL YOUR TIME exploring LA and hanging out with a cat. Do you take drugs or watch TV or what?”
Well, poopoo, I do all kind of stuff, hardly any of which is taking drugs or watching TV which is pretty much the same thing. Lately I’ve been signing these stickers that go inside of a bunch of books that we’re selling to our major fans. The book is all pictures of me and Chuck and Bob backstage on tour, plus a CD containing early versions of the Talking Light stories. It’s WAY COOL! But if you haven’t bought it already, it’s too late now. But there may be a few more for sale when we do the 40th anniversary tour later this year.
But I’ll have to say, signing “The Residents” 180 TIMES!!! plus numbering all of them is WAY BORING! It would probably be better if I did take drugs.

Okay, this is another one of the pictures I took when I went to the Air Force Museum. I have to say this stuff really confuses me. I mean, I feel bad for the families of people who just vanish into the craziness of war, but then I look at this and I can’t figure out exactly what the message is. “You are not forgotten” - and this how you are remembered? I’m sorry, this stuff kind of messes with my head.

Okay, so there’s this picture that says, “PRACTICALLY A DISASTER!” and IT’S TRUE! Well, practically true, anyway. That’s Joshua (Joshua Raoul Brody, for those that don’t know) my accompanist for the Sam shows in NYC that you see in the picture. Well, Joshua and I were just sitting there having dinner after rehearsal a couple of days ago when all of a sudden, it was like WORLD WAR THREE with all these fire trucks and emergency vehicles stopping like RIGHT NEXT TO OUR TABLE! I shot a movie of it but I’ll wait till I get home to post it because it’s so goddam complicated to get the movie out of my camera and into tumblr with nothing but an iPad - like I don’t have a life or something!
Meanwhile rehearsals are going great. I can’t wait to do the shows starting in THREE DAYS!

Okay, as you might expect, I’m pretty goddam upset. I mean, here I am rehearsing for my show in the middle of fucking NEW YORK CITY and I get this text message from home saying that MAURICE IS MISSING! Here’s the deal - I have this buddy, Schooner, back home and Old Schooney always goes over to my place and feeds Maurice when I’m out of town on tour or whatever. So Schooner shows up last night and Maurice is not there! Now this is just NOT RIGHT! I mean, Maurice’s mission on earth consists of TWO THINGS - eating and sleeping, well he also pees and poots, but that’s just the other end of eating - and he does an EXCELLENT JOB of fulfilling these functions. Maurice is like a REALLY RESPONSIBLE CAT! So what this means is that Maurice not showing up for dinner is like THE FUCKING POPE NOT SHOWING UP FOR EASTER MASS! I’m sorry I’m too upset. I can’t go on right now. I need a drink.

YO YO - Tuesday, March 27th 2012[]
Okay, I know I left everybody kind of hanging after that last post about Maurice being missing and all, so I thought I should do a little update here. Maurice is still gone and I’m still in NYC so the situation is pretty hazy, but Schooner’s on the job I so did get a little more info. Apparently this was an inside job - not only is Maurice missing, but also HIS FOOD, so somebody let themselves into my apartment WITH A KEY! Okay, I know it wasn’t old Schooney, but I can make a pretty good guess as who it was. I’ll be home in a couple of days - more later. Meanwhile, my shows have been going good, although I’m pretty distracted, what with the Maurice situation and all. We’ve done three performances so far and I think all of them have been sold out, although we could have been a little short tonight. Tomorrow is the last one then it’s back home - but it will feel kind of weird to be there without Maurice.

HOME AT LAST! - Friday, March 30th 2012 (1)[]
Okay, this is just a short update to say I did make it home in one piece, but the piece is still without cat, so I can’t say I’m the greatest mood. But I will be hot on the trail this weekend and hopefully have some good news soon.
Meanwhile my NYC Sam shows were great. We sold out all four performances and are hoping to go back before too long and do some more.
