Moravian Meeting was a one-off live performance by Randy Rose, lead singer of The Residents, in Olomouc, Czech Republic, on October 20th 2010, featuring Už Jsme Doma as his backing band.

Loosely based on The Residents' then-current Talking Light touring project, the Moravian Meeting performance was professionally filmed and recorded, and was released as a live album a decade later, by Klanggalerie on June 7th 2020.

History[]

The "Moravian Meeting" was a unique performance event held by Už Jsme Doma in Olomouc, Czech Republic on October 20th 2010, featuring The Residents' singer Randy Rose on vocals. The show took place during the lead-up to the third leg of The Residents' Talking Light tour, which the setlist is somewhat based on.

As well as the Talking Light material, and additional tracks, the show also featured two songs which had been covered by Už Jsme Doma early in their career, "Santa Dog" and "The Spot" by Snakefinger.

A fan-shot video of the performance was posted onto YouTube in thirteen parts in 2010, shortly thereafter becoming a widely distributed bootleg.[1] In 2019, an excerpt from the concert was released on the Hardy Fox tribute album The Godfather Of Odd, with addeddrum overdubs, raising further fan interest in this performance. Later in 2019, a minute-long excerpt of professionally recorded footage from the concert was released on YouTube.[2]

The performance was ultimately released as a stand-alone live album on June 7th 2020 by Klanggalerie, alongside a compilation of The Residents' 2011-2012 Eyeful series of online releases. In November of that same year the album was released in the Czech Republic with new artwork. Around that same time an eight minute excerpt of professional footage was released onto YouTube.[3]

Live album[]

Moravian Meeting is a live album by Randy Rose and Už Jsme Doma, recorded at their one-off performance on October 20th 2010 in Olomouc. It was released by Austrian label Klanggalerie on June 7th 2020.

Release[]

The show was bootlegged almost as soon as it took place; two days after the show a complete video recording appeared on YouTube.

The 2019 Hardy Fox tribute album Godfather of Odd (released by Austrian label Klanggalerie) featured "Never Known Questions" from this show. In early 2020, Klanggalerie announced that the full show would be released as a standalone live album later in the year.[4]

The album was released by Klanggalerie on June 7th 2020. It is the first album-length release to be credited to Randy Rose, separately from The Residents. On this release the opening track, "The Moles Are Coming", is mislabelled "Shorty's Lament"; both songs are from the 1982 EP Intermission. A similar error was made with the song's appearance on the 1995 promotional compilation Louisiana's Lick.

In November a Czech edition was released by Indies MG, with the translated title Moravské Setkání. This edition features alternative artwork and packaging.
