Sarah Cahill hosts Residents Radio Special - UPDATED[]
Thursday, August 3 2017, 5:31am
CORRECTION: I had originally given the date for next Sunday, not this Sunday. My apologies.
This Sunday, August 6th, at 8pm Pacific, Sarah Cahill will host "The Residents Go to the Dogs" on KALW, a two-hour celebration of the radical anonymous art collective and cult band The Residents with special guest Homer Flynn. The show will focus on their iconic hit "Santa Dog" and include a tribute to one of their heroes, the legendary street musician Moondog.
Tune in to KALW 91.7FM or www.kalw.org.
Upcoming Releases[]
Thursday, August 10 2017, 4:10am
New releases! New releases! Let's hear it for a cornucopia of new releases for the tail end of 2017! We've already mentioned the Title In Limbo special edition and the retrospective compilation 80 Aching Orphans, but there will also be...
- A reissue of I Murdered Mommy from our friends at Klanggalerie. No info yet on whether that includes bonus tracks.
- A special edition of Meet The Residents will be the first in an ambitious reissue series called pREServed. These releases will feature bonus discs of b-sides, alternate takes, demos, live cuts... anything deemed interesting by the Powers that R!
- Santa Dog '17, as previewed on Sarah Cahill's Revolutions Per Minute last week, will be released as a 7" single on Psychofon Records. Arf!
In addition, Cherry Red has teased vinyl versions of previously un-vinyled releases (such as Gingerbread Man and Bad Day on the Midway), and news of that should be coming up soon... but you need to join the official mailing list if you want to be first in line!
Cryptic Archives Auction[]
Wednesday, August 16 2017, 5:05am
THE VAULT IS OPEN!
Sort of... The Residents and The Cryptic Corporation are proud to announce the FIRST EVER sale of items hand picked from their OFFICIAL ARCHIVE! The recent retirement of longtime Cryptic associate Hardy Fox stimulated the relocation of this extensive collection from an armored depository on Mr. Fox's estate to the less spacious storage facility at the Cryptic World Headquarters. Consequently, WE NEED TO CLEAR OUT SOME SPACE! And would love to do so by sharing these cherished items with Residents fans.
An auction of the first 31 items will be starting on Friday, August 18 with an initial posting on eBay. Additional pieces will be going up for one month until a total of 31 items have been auctioned off. Each item will come with an Official Archive Certificate of Authenticity.
HAPPY BIDDING and MAY THE FARTS BE WITH YOU!
