LOST IN LATVIA? or MISSING IN MINSK?
Okay, DOG DEATH! was a bit of an exaggeration but Lost in Latvia?... not so much. It seems that ONE OF THEM, the one with Latvian grandparents, left for Riga shortly after recording the DUCK STAB! ALIVE! Video for Night Flight. THEY had an idea for a new project based on the Singing Revolution of 1987 which would incorporate a brand new musical vocabulary, but the idea needed research - just a short trip to the proverbial homeland. Then came a COVID resurgence... and isolation... and no way to leave the country... With a tour scheduled, The Cryptic Corporation was in constant communication with the US Embassy in Riga seeking a special diplomatic visa but, while many promises were received, nothing happened. Finally, in desperation, the MAROONED EYEBALL actually HITCHHIKED to Minsk in Belarus where a return flight to the U.S, was available. But... with the frustrated traveler sitting at the Minsk National Airport, the flight was cancelled yesterday. Another flight was booked, but, with a burned out Eyeball and no time to rehearse, Cryptic was left with no choice but to cancel the majority of the American tour dates.
But after cancelling and rescheduling this tour three times, THE BAND REALLY WANTS TO PLAY! So Cryptic has retained the LA (Sept 15), SF (Sept 17) and Santa Cruz (Sept 18) dates. SEE YOU THERE!!!
WHAT IS REAL?[]

Disappointment is real. And the Covid pandemic ravaging our culture is real. The Residents are real, too, in a misty, man-behind-the-curtain way. And the joy that an artist or musician brings to their supporters is also real, but so is the apprehension one feels when that excitement is replaced by anxiety and dread. Disappointment is a bitter pill and The Residents share in the sorrow that goes with the acrid gulp, but artists have resources to deal with frustration and failure - THEY CREATE!!!
And WE are creating... please stay tuned. As someone who lives in a land not far from The Residents' fog-shrouded castle on a hill once said, "Tomorrow is another day!"
Thanks for your love and support... and GET VACCINATED!!!
