Santa Dog 50th Anniversary LP[]
Friday, February 25 2022, 11:16am
This just in from SECRET RECORDS:
Holy crap... 1972 - 2022! From experimental noise and tape splicing, to new wave, punk, electronic, ambient, blues, twisted mangled pop, and everything else. We're thrilled to bring you The Residents' Santa Dog Collection (aka Refused) as a vinyl double LP for the first time ever. Since the original 1972 4-song EP came in beautiful gatefold sleeves that were mostly destroyed or badly damaged, we decided we wanted our release to resemble the original art as closely as possible. No "refused" address sticker, no new art, no new twist. Just showcasing the original, beautiful art, now 5" bigger and without all that sticky varnish that ruined so many originals.
Santa Dog has become a theme that comes back again and again, about every 6 years, or whenever there has been some kind of significant change in the world of The Residents. This 2 LP set includes all 4 songs from the original 1972 EP along with every studio version of Santa Dog that has come since (78, 84, 88, 92, 99, 2006, 2012, 2017). The "peppermint" vinyl edition is limited to only 150 hand numbered copies and is ONLY available direct from Secret Records. The double mint and red swirl vinyl edition is limited to only 350 hand numbered copies. All copies include an insert with track info, a little background from the Cryptic Corp, and a really nice Santa photo outtake from the 1970s.
