News for Friday the 13th[]

Newsmachine-13th

Happy New Year, and happy Friday the 13th everyone! I've got some news items to catch up on...

The next Residents album, The Ghost of Hope, has been given a release date of March 24, and it will be available on vinyl for those of you who love your plastic music (and in a way, don't we all?).

Klanggalerie will be releasing two items you'll be interested in, both of projects that originated as MP3 downloads. Up first is Dot.Com, which you may remember as a special year-long event at Ralph America and later a limited edition CD. If you don't remember that, you can form a new memory with this disc. Bonus tracks include selections from the Radio Thoreau project from just a few years ago. And Charles Bobuck will be releasing a collection entitled Eggs For Breakfast, featuring 26 of his tiny tunes.

Something else, something else... Klang's also re-releasing Snakefinger's Manual of Errors, so be on the lookout for that. Hrm... I know I'm forgetting something...

Oh yeah, I remember now: today we relaunch Residents.com with an entirely new design. Still needs a few touches here and there, but I think you'll enjoy it. Come and have a look.

Two Screenings, Two Countries, Two Weeks[]

If you're a jet-setting world traveler, you might be interested in these two events. Or maybe you want to attend the one that's nearest you. Or maybe you're on the other side of the world and just want to read about them. In any case...

To celebrate the new Residents show premiering in Japan, on February 17th, music researcher and "Uncle Willie Meets The Residents" editor Manabu Yuasa will be presenting a Residents master class: "Medama No Gakkou (School of Eyes)." Hear all their sordid secrets while watching videos of the band!

PopMatters has been running a series on what it considers to be the best post-punk albums ever recorded, and our beloved Residents make the list!

You can skip right to the Eskimo part by going to the second page of part 4 of the series, but it would be well worth your time to read about the other albums (especially the ones you're not familiar with).
