Diskomo / Goosebump re-release in April[]

The Residents have been represented on Record Store Day the past few years with various releases (Kaw-Liga, Intermission, Please Do Not Steal It!). This year it's the 1980 EP, Diskomo.

This year is also little different. In Europe there's an RSD exclusive release on translucent red vinyl, while in the US there is a non-exclusive translucent yellow version released the day before. Both have the same tracks, essentially making it a vinyl version of the now out of print Diskomo 2000 CD.

The US edition will be released on Friday, April 21, the day before Record Store Day. The European version is only available in participating record stores on Saturday, April 22.

Listening Party Becomes... a Performance?![]

Newsmachine-Exploratorium

Last night The Exploratorium in San Francisco hosted a listening party for the new Residents album, The Ghost of Hope. While it was known the group itself would participate, all indications were that their presence would be minimal, adding some texture to the album as it played.

As it turned out, those crazy wacky Residents flipped the tables on everyone, and instead played along to only minimal backing tracks, creating what could more properly be considered a full performance, closer to how they toured Icky Flix in 2001.

Here's a writeup about the event: http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/The-Residents-Treat-Fans-to-Listening-Party-for-New-Album-at-SF-Exploratorium-417800143.html
