LitQuake Live Broadcast Next Week[]

Newsmachine-Res360

Thursday, October 11 2018, 1:43pm

There will be a 360 live broadcast of the LitQuake performance this Tuesday, October 16. We won't know the web address for the broadcast until about an hour before the show (scheduled for 8pm Pacific, 00:00 UTC), but we'll share it sometime between 7pm and 8pm. So in that hour or so before the curtains open, get the link from https://www.residents.com/ or Facebook.

No special software will be required to view this 360 performance - it will be viewable in the YouTube app on mobile devices or on YouTube in a web browser. It is expected that the broadcast will be archived for future viewing.

If computers and internets frighten you, tickets are still available to attend in person: https://litquake2018.sched.com/event/FO4Y

Residents-intruders

Hey Residents fans! I have a little game of Past / Present / Future for ya...

The Past:

Whoopsie! Between YouTube going down for everyone on the planet and other technical difficulties, the 360-degree VR stream on Tuesday night ended up being for only the most dedicated fans. But what happened can be relived:

Part 1, pre-show crowd up until our stream died: https://youtu.be/_CB1vPMu5Ek?t=1910 (the band takes the stage at 31:50)

Part 2, a few minutes of the second stream, which also died: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xz5Gsgc656I

The Present:

The new album, Intruders, hits stores TODAY! Dangerous Minds has a nice write-up and an exclusive video from Captain Doc: Click here. The album is sure to make you want to double check if what you saw out of the corner of your eye was just your imagination, or your other self. Available wherever important music is sold.

As a reminder, Psychofon Records is producing various limited vinyl versions from Germany. For those of you States-side, MVD has imported 50 copies of the yellow vinyl edition.

But whatever your poison (CD, download, various vinylations), Intruders is everything you want in a modern-day classic.

The Future:

On Wednesday, October 31 (hey, that's Halloween!), Homer Flynn will appear at City Lights Booksellers & Publishers as part of a reading / signing event for The Brickeaters. I'm told the band might also be in attendance as part of this happening, but that it will not be a performance as with the LitQuake show.

Voodoo Doll Video[]

"Voodoo Doll" - from the new Residents album Intruders - can now be seen as well as heard. That's right, an animated video has hit YouTube! Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EMPxc5yf5s

Brickeaters Happenings[]

Brickeaters

Below are two images from the LitQuake show from two weeks ago. The first is a backstage shot of The Residents with guests Molly Harvey and Dustin York. The second is an animation of a moment from the actual show.

As a reminder: on Halloween, Homer Flynn will appear at City Lights Books for a reading / signing event for The Brickeaters. The Residents might also make an appearance, but this will not be a concert performance. More of a "happening," as the kids would say half a century ago.

Hardy Fox (1945-2018)[]

It is with with great sorrow and regret that The Cryptic Corporation announces the passing of longtime associate, Hardy Fox. As president of the corporation from 1982-2016, the company benefited from Hardy's instinct for leadership and direction, but his true value came from his longtime association with The Residents. As the group's producer, engineer, as well as collaborator on much of their material, Fox's influence on The Residents was indelible; despite any formal training, his musicality was nevertheless unique, highly refined and prolific. Blessed with a vital sense of aesthetics, a keen ear, and an exquisite love of the absurd, Hardy's smiling face was a constant source of joy to those around him. He will be missed.

After a series of recent health problems, Hardy succumbed to a brief illness. He is survived by his husband, Steven Kloman.
