Night Train To Nowhere is a photo book and CD by The Residents, released in two limited editions in February 2012 via the Ralphlet Outlet online store.

The CD is the same between both editions, and contains studio versions of the live suites from the Talking Light show (the first in the Randy, Chuck and Bob Trilogy).

Photo book[]

Night Train To Nowhere! is a 26 page photo book, anticipating themes which The Residents would later explore in greater detail on the 2017 album The Ghost of Hope (as well as the 2018 Hardy Fox mini-album Nachtzug). It was made available for sale in February 2012 on Ralphlet Outlet, but was not shipped until April.

Each edition was limited to the number of subscribers; the deluxe edition was limited to 45 copies, and included the hardcover book, a certificate, and the CD, whereas the super deluxe edition was limited to 180 copies, and included a signed and numbered hardcover book as well as the certificate and CD. The deluxe edition was originally intended to be softcover, however ended up being hardcover due to a miscommunication with the printer.

A "regular" edition was also produced, as a softcover 20-page book without the CD. The copies of the book which include the CD include six additional pages of text and images.

The book bears a logo, reading "The Residents - Randy, Chuck & Bob - 40 Big Ones!"

CD[]

The Night Train To Nowhere! CD, which accompanied the Super Deluxe and Deluxe editions of the book, contains "an early demo recording of several of the Talking Light stories from when they were first formulated,"[1] circa Spring 2009.[2] The CD also contained an unisted bonus track, which is an alterantive demo for Talking Light, released in May 2009 as a digital single titled "Things To Come."

Eight copies of the CD without the book were made available by The Residents on the Ralphlet Outlet on February 29th 2016 as part of their "Leapmas" promotion.
