"Nobody's Nos" is a song by The Residents, which is said to originate from the mysterious 1974 sessions which produced their operetta Not Available. It features Nobody, a character excised from the operetta prior to its release.
The song was first released January 7th 2022, as a single-sided 7" vinyl single included with copies of the Melodic Virtue coffee table book A Sight For Sore Eyes, Vol. 1.
History[]
An outtake originating from The Residents' 1974 Not Available sessions, "Nobody's Nos" showcases a character, Nobody, who was apparently removed from the album's storyline after having been deemed "too negative" by the group. This character seems to be who the group's mentor N. Senada was referring to when he was quoted as saying "there's somebody that lives in the Negative Zone, but I can't remember His name".[1]

The circa 1972-1974 photo that forms the basis of the picture disc artwork.
The character is also mentioned in the associated book, The Residents: A Sight For Sore Eyes, Vol. 1, which indicates that "Nobody" is the figure with his face painted black with white nose and cheek highlights seen in early Residents group photos (and also pictured on the deluxe 7" picture disc version of the single).[2]
The song is credited as having been mixed by The Residents' current producer, Eric Drew Feldman. When asked, Homer Flynn of The Cryptic Corporation refused to elaborate on whether or not "Nobody's Nos" had only been recently re-discovered, and whether or not the group made any modern musical additions to the track before its release, saying that "this is the sort of thing THEY don't like for me to talk about - they say it takes away the magic".[3]
Lyrics[]
His name is Nobody He's open and closed He suffers a lot Nobody knows no And nobody knows about Nobody's nos
No, no, no, no, no! No! No, no, no, no, no! No!
He wallows alone With worry and woe And a bottomless bone Leaving nothing but no Lies are his friends It's a sinister show Melancholy pretends That Nobody knows And nobody knows about Nobody's nos
No, no, no, no, no! No! No, no, no, no, no! No!
A petulant sky with a lavender glow Watches wonder die and Nobody's nos
