"Ober" is an instrumental suite by The Residents which was featured in their Cube-E live tour, as an overture to the third act of the show, "The Baby King".
The suite combines elements of other songs in The Residents' discography, including the "Main Titles" theme from God In Three Persons, "Happy Home" and "Santa Dog", as well as Richard Strauss' "Also sprach Zarathustra". There is also a traditional 12-bar-blues section.
"Ober" was first released to UWEB fan club subscribers on the compilation album Liver Music in April 1990; its first commercial release came later in the same year on the album Cube-E - Live in Holland.
In 2005, a shorter arrangement of the piece was featured in the setlist of The Residents' 33rd Anniversary Australian mini-tour, The Way We Were; this version was later released commercially on the live album of the same name.
