If you are a news blog (like me), and there is no news, what does a poor soul do. Why.... fluff pieces just to fill space, of course. So here is a bit of fluff for you.
  +
  +
The best thing I can report is that no news is good news. The Residents who were blocked from their studio for a year while it underwent seismic upgrades, are happily back home. Actually they got back into the studio in the fall of '06 and have been busily writing and recording for a new album, hopefully due later this year from Mute.
  +
  +
So to do my fluff piece I had to go to my auxiliary sources. Mute is usually a good place to start, but they are in the process of moving their London offices so communication links are broken or spotty. Once they get settled I'll get back to them. I did hear that Gingerbread Man is being prepared by Mute for release but I lack info on when that might happen.
  +
  +
I spoke with Dren at Ralph America and they expect to have Best Left Unspoken 3 in stock any day. But you knew that already. I asked about what was scheduled next and was told that Ralph would be issuing another release probably in the summer. Dren refused to discuss it further but said that it was not going to be a compilation this time. He said he didn't want to ruin the surprise, but he was plenty excited about it. Again, not really a news item but did get my curiosity.
  +
  +
Of course I called Cryptic Corp to tell them that I was killing readers with boredom hoping they would take pity on me and give me something to report. They said that The R are recording a new album (which I knew) that it was another story driven project (which I didn't know) that it is predicted to be out in September (which I didn't know) and that they were getting a flurry of offers for live performance though no decisions had been made about going live and would not be made until this album is completed (which I really didn't know). I have pretty much assumed that Demons Dance Alone was the final tour and so I was surprised that Cryptic so casually mentioned that performance was under discussion.
  +
  +
So anyway, that is all I've got. No news. But at least you know that there is going to be news in the future. There seems to be plenty of stuff in the pipeline. Hang in there.

Revision as of 06:22, 26 July 2021

The Residents' Official News BOG was a news blog maintained by Big Brother of The Cryptic Corporation beginning in August 2003 (originally titled The Residents' Official News Blog and Website Wrapper), following the company's purchase of the residents.com domain name from fan site RZWeb (now defunct).

Around March 2004, this blog became known as the Official News BOG. In this form, the blog became The Cryptics' (and thus, The Residents') main outlet for communication with their fans until the website's redesign in 2008.

This page collects posts made to this news blog in March 2007, as archived on archive.org.

Gingerbread Man next in line?

[broken image]

Apparently the next back catalog deluxe hard bound treatment coming from Mute will 1994's The Gingerbread Man. While no one has confirmed this for me, I was told this info by a graphic artist who had been working on the new package design.

Mute Records in London is in the process of moving their offices (their old building is being demolished) so it is impossible to get any information about this at this time. I'll let you know as I learn more.

BOG killing readers with boredom

[broken image]

If you are a news blog (like me), and there is no news, what does a poor soul do. Why.... fluff pieces just to fill space, of course. So here is a bit of fluff for you.

The best thing I can report is that no news is good news. The Residents who were blocked from their studio for a year while it underwent seismic upgrades, are happily back home. Actually they got back into the studio in the fall of '06 and have been busily writing and recording for a new album, hopefully due later this year from Mute.

So anyway, that is all I've got. No news. But at least you know that there is going to be news in the future. There seems to be plenty of stuff in the pipeline. Hang in there.
