Meet The Residents Wiki

The Residents' Official News Blog was a news blog maintained by Big Brother of The Cryptic Corporation beginning in August 2003, previously known as the Official News BOG (or simply BOG) until April 2007.

The BOG became The Cryptics' (and thus, The Residents') main outlet for communication with their fans until the website's redesign in 2008.

This page collects posts made to this news blog in October 2007, as archived on archive.org, transcribed to this wiki by a Mysterious Spanish Lady. The blog crashed in this month, and after this the Cryptics implemented new blog software, introducing a new design and format for the Official News Blog.

San Francisco Video Retrospective dates[]

December dates set
The Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco will host a three program series of video work of The Residents.  The dates are December 7,8,9. Each is a different program.  The program is similar to the one that was at the New York Museum of Modern Art last October.
More information on the exact programs as the date draws closer.

Mute reports that the company that deals with printing/sending stuff out has gone bankrupt. Their bank put an arrestment on all of their assets, including VOM which was in the warehouse.  Mute says the issue will be sorted out next week but it means Ralph AM will not get the shipment by the agreed date, so neither will you.
I will update information as I get it.

WMG Combines Cordless, Rykodisc[]

Warner Music Group is partnering its digital label Cordless with Rykodisc, a move intended to give Cordless artists access to Rykodisc's staff and distribution while enhancing the digital offerings of Rykodisc.
Jac Holzman will continue to serve as founding chairman of Cordless, in addition to his role as a senior advisor to WMG chairman/CEO Edgar Bronfman, Jr. Current Cordless artists include fab acts like The Residents.

River of Crime Download Special[]

17-Oct-07 06:18 AM

[broken image: ROCCD-RC300.jpg]
Last year The Residents introduced this 2/CD set of BLANK CDR's (Cordless). The world did not beat a pathway to their door. The idea was that you downloaded the material and burned it onto the BLANK CDR's. The download site will be closing at the end of the year so these BLANKs will go off the market. Therefore they are now reduced to $6.00 at the Ideal Copy web store.
The download includes not only the five River of Crime stories, but a 15 minute instrumental, additional art, and some remixed tunes and ringtones. All in all yet another weird product from the eyeballed ones.

Mute USA reschedules VOM for November 20[]

18-Oct-07 11:21 AM

However, Mute UK is scrambling to get Ralph America copies as quickly as possible. November 20 would be the date for the USA stores (and for Ralph AM after the initial 500 copies, which, BTW, are all sold.)
