Pray For Smurph is the only solo album by illustrator Gary Panter. The Residents are featured on two of the album's tracks.

Background[]

Gary Panter met with The Residents in the late 1970s, and established a working relationship wherein Panter would create artwork for the group's record label Ralph Records. In 1981 Panter & The Residents recorded a 7 inch single together, Tornader to The Tater at El Ralpho Studios, which was released by Index Records. Two years later, Panter recorded additional material in Japan without The Residents, and released it as an album on the newly formed record label, Overheat Records.
