Scene 3 of The Residents' unfinished feature film Vileness Fats was conceived by the group in the early 1970s, but never shot.[1] As the film's dialogue was often only finalised shortly before being filmed, it is possible that the scene was never completely written during production.
The scene would have properly introduced the main characters Weescoosa (Sally Lewis) and Saint Steven (Jay Clem), as well as the cast of residents of the film's main setting, the village of Vileness Flats. The sequence would also have featured a "major production number",[1] though exactly which song was intended for this sequence has not been confirmed to date.
Official synopsis[]
Weescoosa, scruffy and disheveled, is escorted through the village by Steve (Jay Clem), the town's pious religious leader. In a major production number, the bewildered Indian is dazzled by dancing one-armed midgets, whirling houses and sweetly singing children. By the end of the scene she appears to recognize Steve, but he brushes her off, saying that he has to leave for a meeting.
Left alone, Weescoosa is then befriended by Ninnie (Danny Williams), a local teenager. Ninnie takes the disheveled and angry Weescoosa home in order to freshen up.[1]
