"Soundtrack Music Piece 17" is an instrumental by The Residents, recorded around 1974 and included on the demo tape X Is For Xtra. Like other pieces of music from this tape, it was presumably intended to form part of the musical score to the group's unfinished film Vileness Fats.

The piece was first released in 2011 on the extended edition of the album Not Available (the original album had been "reprocessed" from the X Is For Xtra tape by The Cryptic Corporation in 1978), where it was integrated into the track "Ship's A'Going Down".

The track was released separately in 2019 as part of the "RDX" mix of X Is For Xtra featured on the two CD pREServed edition of Not Available. The piece was again released in 2023, on the second disc of the expanded vinyl pREServed edition of the album.
