Talking Light San Diego is the second of sixty live recordings by The Residents released as part of the Talking Light download series in 2010 and 2011. It contains the entirety of The Residents' San Diego concert on January 29, 2010.

Differences from other Talking Light Downloads[]

Talking Light San Diego is the first performance to feature 'The Mirror People' spoken word segments, which had been entirely absent from the rehearsals and Santa Cruz releases.

  • Pudding in Disguise is 11 minutes long
  • Bury Me Not is 8 minutes long
  • Monologue #2 is still in an early, shorter, form.

  1. ↑ "Hi! I'm Randy. Singer for The Residents? This is uh - Chuck over here on keyboards... And that's Bob on guitar. I'm sure most of old fans, uh, remember that there was always four of us. Well, I'm well, sorry to say that old Carlos has retired. Carlos decided he didn't like show-business anymore and he went back to Mexico to take care of his Mom. But, we still yknow - the rest of us our here, yknow, and we wanna play some songs, and have some stories for you and uh, here's the first story, right here. Now some of these songs are kinda spooky. Ok so, this one is called, The Talking Light."
  2. ↑ "I believe in ghosts. I don't know about you. I believe that they've been there my whole life. There was Red, who was a construction worker that fell off of a twelve story building. I found the body. All of the parts were kinda weirdly re-arranged, and there was this big glowing ball that just landed on my head when I was stuck in quicksand in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and inside of this glowing ball were all these bugs and snakes and worms and things and there was also the cut-off head of a train engineer. Uh. There's also the Mirror People. The Mirror People, they're the worst of all! But I'll talk about them later."
  3. ↑ "The Mirror People. The Mirror People. They've - I don't know when it started, but they've always been there. It was never really a problem until one day, I was shaving, And the bathroom was all steamed up, and the mirror was foggy, and, all of a sudden, I heard this voice. 'Randy, I want you.' I said - I said 'Pardon me?' and I looked around but - nobody was there. I knew who it was! I knew! ... and I went up to the mirror and wiped away the fog and... there he was, looking at me!"
  4. ↑ "The Mirror People. The Mirror People. They never look at you. If you're looking in the mirror. They won't talk to you. It's one of their rules. It's kind of like if there's other people in the room, they won't talk to you, but they're always there! And they're always trying to get out. My wife Bonnie is one. That's why I sleep in the car now. And I never look in mirrors. I never look in mirrors. I can't go in a barbershop. That's why I shaved my head. Once when I was a kid, I was in a barbershop, and I was sitting in the chair, and I started looking at all those mirrors and I got weirded out, and I jumped! And it made the barber stab himself in the cheek with his scissors. My mom cut my hair after that."
  5. ↑ "OK... You... I know, this Mirror People stuff is weird. You probably think I'm crazy... but... I'm gonna show you. I'm gonna show you! I brought this mirror, I brought this mirror and... see it's a mirror on both sides. This is kinda dangerous. I think you're ok; you're too far away... But I'm gonna... I'm gonna look in it."
  6. ↑ "He's there! He's there. I see him! He's there!... Hi. I'm Randy, singer of The Residents. This is Chuck over here, Bob on guitar. We're gonna do a few more songs for you. This first one is about a sweet little old lady."
