Lonesome Jack (right) and the Bell Boys in The Cave
The Bell Boys (or Bellboys) are a fictional gang created by The Residents, and the antagonists of their unfinished feature film Vileness Fats, shot between 1972 and 1976. In the film, the Bell Boys are a gang of insurgents led by Lonesome Jack (Jay Clem), consisting of Weenie (Danny Williams), Mel, Poncho, Fred, Storky, Edgar, Choo-Choo (Barry "Schwump" Schwam) and Gumball.[1]
Driven by their belief in the importance of Evergeen, the Bell Boys attempt various means of invading the town of Vileness Flats in order to steal its supply of meat, and are twice fought off by conjoined twin tag-team wrestlers Arf and Omega Berry. The Bell Boys' methods include armoring themselves in Atomic Shopping Carts and (as part of Lonesome Jack's "master plan") disguising themselves as meat.
Most members of the gang communicate in only limited ways; ie. Choo-Choo (dressed in blackface) only sings lyrics from old 1920s minstrel songs, Storky communicates entirely with the words "What?" and "Hey!", and Gumball can only say "I don't know... gosh, I don't know... I just don't know".[1]
