The Residents' God In Three Persons - The Official Semi-Calendar was a promotional "semi-calendar", covering only the months of March through August of 1988.
It was published by Rykodisc in the early months of 1988 to promote the label's series of then-upcoming releases by The Residents, beginning with the album God In Three Persons in March and ending with the "Holy Kiss of Flesh" single in August.
History[]
The Residents' Official Semi-Calendar was published by Rykodisc in early 1988 in order to promote The Residents' upcoming releases on the label; the album God In Three Persons (released on CD in March and LP in May), the "Double Shot" single (released in April), the instrumental God In Three Persons Soundtrack, (released on CD in June and LP in July) and the "Holy Kiss of Flesh" single (released in August). As such, the calendar begins in March 1988 and ends in August of the same year.
Dates on the calendar are marked with notable historical events, mostly relating to 20th century pop culture and music, including release dates, birthdays, and natural disasters, as well as other strange and cryptic notations. Much of the biographical information cited is inaccurate; for example, the birth date of Shemp Howard.
The Residents' contract with Ryko expired the following year, and a second calendar was not produced.
