The Residents' Blog was a news blog maintained by Big Brother of The Cryptic Corporation beginning in August 2003 (originally titled The Residents' Official News Blog and Website Wrapper, then The Residents' Official News BOG and later Official News Blog).
The BOG became the Cryptics' (and thus, The Residents') main outlet for communication with their fans until the website's redesign early in this month. At this point (at least according to the website's header after the redesign) the blog was simply called The Residents Blog.
This page collects posts made to this news blog in January 2010, as archived on archive.org, transcribed to this wiki by a Mysterious Spanish Lady.

Tweedles Instrumental (Tabasco)[]
Jan/01/10 06:35 AM
- Tweedles (i) Tabasco now - RSD. Starting the year off right.
- “Tweedles: Instrumental Following in the footsteps of the successful release of River of Crime: Instrumental and Animal Lover:Instrumental, Tweedles: Instrumental is more than just non-vocal versions of the songs. Instead, the album is a three piece suite that was originally written to represent air, earth, and water. Originally, the project's working title was "Tabasco" and over time, it evolved into "Casanova's Clown" until finally becoming Tweedles.” - (Ten Little Piggies notes)
Euro tour[]

- I keep getting asked if the UK ATP festival is the only performance of Talking Light in Europe.
- I am not allowed to say exactly where or when but there will be shows on the continent in various convenient places like France, Belgium, Italy, Norway, etc. I’ll list confirmed shows once venues put tickets on sale. It will not be necessary to cross the channel to see The Residents, though you can do so if you want.
The Residents' Talking Light is really talking heavy[]
Jan/10/10 09:06 AM
- The time had come for a change. The Residents had known that for a while, even before Bunny hopped on to the scene.
- 2008's Bunny Boy was a combination of music that was vaguely related to an internet series that was all vaguely related to a touring version of those things combined. In some ways it could be said that it was lacking a unified vision. Others might say that the project was exactly about that, Bunny's search for his brother was nothing more than The Residents trying to ground themselves in something they cared about again.
- In early 2009, The Bunny Boy was quickly swept under the rug, story truncated, final tour dumped entirely. The work that had begun on a new album was halted.
- The Residents again became introspective, wondering if they were just becoming extensions of who they had been. Who are The Residents?
- In the summer of 2009, The Residents made three decisions. One was to clean house. This decision led to the release of the futurist compilation CD, Ten Little Piggies. Second was the realization that the best statement of their current self view was a bunch a recordings that had been recorded earlier for an album called The Voice of Midnight. This decision led to the release of the album, The Ughs!
- The third decision was to play a new live show on Halloween. This was to be the opportunity to experiment with new ideas and directions. The show was never announced but it was booked for the Rio in Santa Cruz, The Residents home-away-from-home, for Saturday, October 31.
- =====
- They couldn't quite get it together by October 31 and then the holidays arrived. The Halloween show was postponed but is finally making it to the Rio January 23rd, 2010. The show is called Talking Light.
- The story of the Talking Light piece is basically that of an older man who questions, not only decisions he made as a teenager, but also if the events he remembers from that time happened at all. "A dead infant clutching a ring with an inscription the teenager cannot read" is the stuff of dreams. The following stories in the show may or may not shed light on the inscription. Questions remain unanswered. The Residents study death, not as a horrific end, but as the ultimate question that we all ask while wondering if any of it is even real.

FAQ[]
Jan/25/10 09:17 AM
- FAQ on the Talking Light recordings:
- Will all shows be recorded and sold?
- - Yes, to the degree that is possible.
- Will the downloads be available permanently at RSD?
- - The plan is to keep the downloads in the store, unless the interest completely disappears.
- Will the recordings be released on CD or even higher quality downloads?
- - There is no discussion about doing anything other than the current MP3’s. That could change but not planned at this time.
- How are the recordings made?
- - These are four channel recordings, stereo recording from the mixing board and stereo microphones of the room. They are mixed electronically, not by a human. They are RAW, no tampering what-so-ever. They may have pop, crackle, pops. They may have drunken people at the bar singing along with songs. It is what it is. We consider that to be an asset, but you may not. Be forewarned.
- How is Carlos’ mom?
- - Recovering
