"Tired Old Man" is a short instrumental sketch by The Residents, recorded around the late 1980s to early 1990s.[1] It is sometimes said to have originated from sessions for the never-completed Part Three of the group's six-album Mole Trilogy. The title is a direct reference to The Observer, a character who appears in the "Migration" suite on the first album in the series, Mark of the Mole.
It was first included on the compilation album Best Left Unspoken... Volume One in 2006, where it was expressly identified as originating from Part Three of The Mole Trilogy. It was then included (unlisted) in the Robot Selling Device EP Mole Suite in 2011. Like most of the sketches featured in the suite, it was not included in the 2019 pREServed box set Mole Box: The Complete Mole Trilogy pREServed.
