The Tuesday tapes were a series of recorded jam sessions by The Residents and their friends, held during breaks in the shooting of their musical feature film Vileness Fats,[1] on Tuesday afternoons between February and October 1973.

Although informal in nature and intended only for the group's amusement (like most of their early recordings), material captured on the Tuesday tapes would ultimately form the basis for The Residents' debut album, Meet The Residents, released in April 1974.[1]

Excerpts from the Tuesday tapes were released for the first time in 2013 on the compilation The Delta Nudes' Greatest Hiss, with more excerpts seeing release in 2018, on the pREServed CD reissue of Meet The Residents. The pREServed vinyl edition of the album, released in 2023, included a number of additional excerpts from the tapes.
