"Twinkle" is the 5th and final track on The Residents' Diskomo / Goosebump, released by Ralph Records on April 11th 1980. like all other songs from the Diskomo / Goosebump b-side, it is made using toy instruments from toys R us then touched up by The Residents afterwards.[1][2] To follow The Residents' childlike concept for the album, all the songs reference pre-existing nursery rhymes. "Twinkle" specifically references the rhyme "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."

History[]

This song sadly has very little history. The song was recorded between January and February 1980 and like every other song from "Goosebump" was made with snakefinger as "Co-lead artist". [3]

Legacy[]

Unique to this project Twinkle was revisited for "Diskomo 2000" which included guest appearances from Isabelle Barbier and Nolan Cook. The song was chosen along with "Farmers" to be part of the compilation album "Heaven?". It was reissued on "Diskomo 2000", and "Eskimo pREServed."

Lyrics[]

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder what you are
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder what you are
Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder what you are
