"When We Were Young" is an instrumental by The Residents, featured as the fortieth and final track on their seventh studio album Commercial Album, released by Ralph Records on October 29th 1980.
History[]

Still from the 2004 music video by Veber Veber for Commercial DVD
The song is an instrumental piece lasting exactly one minute. It is the final song on the Commercial Album. Its sense of nostalgia and sombre tone lead to a melancholy ending to the album.
In 2004, for Commercial DVD, Serbian animaton duo Veber Veber created a music video for this song, featuring identical clones of one naked boy (Teodor Popovic), as he flies through the sky on clouds.
"When We Were Young" was covered in 2016 by fan Jake Gonnella; this version was featured on the vinyl edition of the official 2018 tribute album I Am A Resident!.
