Yello is a Swiss electronic music group, founded in Zürich in 1979 by Boris Blank and Carlos Perón; millionaire industrialist and gambler Dieter Meier joined as the group's vocalist and lyricist shortly thereafter. The group's name was chosen as a neologism, based on a comment by Meier, "a yelled hello". They released their first single, "I.T. Splash", in 1979.

In 1980, Blank (a television repairman at the time) dropped a demo tape at Ralph Records' Grove Street headquarters. Yello were quickly signed by the label, who released their first two albums, Solid Pleasure and Claro Que Si in 1980 and 1981 respectively. In 1982, the trio left Ralph, releasing their third album You Gotta Say Yes to Another Excess on Elektra Records the following year. Perón left to pursue a solo career shortly afterwards; Yello have continued as a duo of Blank and Meier ever since.

In 1986, the band received worldwide attention when the single "Oh Yeah" from their fourth album Stella was prominently featured in the films Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Secret of My Success. It became their only single to chart in America, reaching No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their 1988 single "The Race", from their sixth album Flag, reached No. 7 in the UK, as their only top 10 hit in the British market.

Yello have remained consistently active; their most recent album Point was released in 2020.
