Bigbubble

Fictional band The Big Bubble, known for a controversial performance in the outlawed Mohelmot language at a Zinkenite rally

The Zinkenites are a fictional social and political movement within the mythology of The Residents' Mole Trilogy of albums, particularly the fourth (and, to date, final) instalment of the trilogy, The Big Bubble (released in 1985) and the unreleased third entry in the series.

Seemingly founded among the second generation of Moles to live uneasily within Chub society, the Zinkenite movement is described as consisting of "traditional" Moles (or Mohelmot) who seek a deeper relationship with their ancestral past, and aim to form a new Mohelmot nation. Many of the movement's officials are said to be Chub/Mole Cross, including noted leader Kula Bocca.[1]

Ramsey Whiten, lead singer of the fictional garage band The Big Bubble (known for their lyrics in the outlawed Mohelmot language), was arrested following the band's performance at a Zinkenite rally; the arrest is said to have been a publicity stunt arranged by Kula Bocca, to drum up support for the Zinkenite cause.[1]

As no further entries in the series have been released, the ultimate fate of the Zinkenite movement remains unknown to the public record. It can be assumed (due to references in the liner notes accompanying The Big Bubble) that the movement would have featured prominently in the plot of the unfinished Part Three of The Mole Trilogy.
